And just like that, WCKG, as it’s been known for much of recent memory, has begun to fade away.

Garry Meier and Stan & Terry signed off earlier today, effectively tipping the hand of the station’s execs, which was confirmed at 5pm when Steve Dahl read a press release announcing the impending changes.

The press release doesn’t appear on WCKG.com or on IKnowJack.com or anywhere else, as far as I can tell.

Essentially, Dahl said what everyone else has been saying since Feder broke the story last week. Dahl will move to WJMK-FM 104.3, CBS Radio’s JACK-FM outlet. His show will be heard from 5:30am to 10am each weekday. The rest of the station will remain jockless, running the JACK-FM format. Dahl’s sidekick Buzz Kilman will remain with the show, which will remain mcuh the same as it is currently.

Dahl did not disclose what the new format on WCKG will become, starting on Monday. He also didn’t say what might happen to his longtime partner Garry Meier who had just returned to WCKG after a three-year self-imposed hiatus after leaving WLS.
