CBS 2 Fires News Director
One of Chicago’s least liked news directors has been given her walking papers. Carol Fowler was let go yesterday after six years with WBBM-TV Ch. 2. The move comes just a few weeks after station boss Joe Ahern was let go and Mark “Bruno” Cohen took ever. Assistant news director Todd Woolman will act as interim news director. Fowler joined Ch. 2 from WGN-TV.
Fowler’s tenure has been marked by low ratings, lower morale, and questionable news decisions, including the coverage of NBC 5′s Amy Jacobson’s involvement with Craig Stebic last year. CBS 2 aired footage of Jacobson, wearing a bikini, lounging on Stebic’s patio, while supposedly covering the story of Stebic’s missing wife Lisa. Jacobson was subsequently fired for the incident.
