Dahl Skeptical of PPM

JACK-FM morning man Steve Dahl returned from a self-imposed blogging exile with some comments about the state of his show:

Right now, we need all of the ratings help we can get. The new system doesn’t seem to measure our audience very accurately. And would it kill Jack to put up a few billboards?

Dahl’s ratings have suffered disproportionately with the roll-out of Aribtron’s PPM ratings measurement system. Under the diary system, Dahl did very well, especially with the male demographic. With PPMs, Dahl has dropped to the back of the pack.

Dahl also encouraged his listeners to download and listen to his show’s podcasts within 24 hours of the original broadcast, because that gives Dahl ratings credit.

The end of Dahl’s post seems to smell of desparation on his part:

Seriously, if everybody listening could just convert or bring back one listener, that would make life a whole lot easier for me, and keep me around a little longer.
