It didn’t take long for Carol Fowler to bounce back after she CBS 2 WBBM-TV let her go in November. This week, WFLD-TV FOX Chicago announced that Fowler would be joining the station on Feb. 2 as news director, the same position that she held at Ch. 2.

Maybe it’s been the warm glow of the Obama electoral victory. Or maybe it’s been the gritty reality of Chicago politics run amok. Or maybe it’s the personal impact of the economic downturn. Or maybe it’s just plain old nostalgia. Whatever the reason, ABC7’s political reporter Andy Shaw seems to be having second thoughts about calling it quits after 35 years of covering politics in Chicago.

One of Chicago’s least liked news directors has been given her walking papers. Carol Fowler was let go yesterday after six years with WBBM-TV Ch. 2. The move comes just a few weeks after station boss Joe Ahern was let go and Mark “Bruno” Cohen took ever. Assistant news director Todd Woolman will act as interim news director. Fowler joined Ch. 2 from WGN-TV.

The ongoing saga of former NBC 5 WMAQ-TV reporter Amy Jacobson continues to get more depressing. She left NBC 5 last year after CBS 2 WBBM-TV cameras caught her on tape, in a bikini, in the backyard of Craig Stebic. Ostensibly, Jacobson was there to reporting on the story of Stebic’s missing wife. However, after CBS 2 aired the video, Jacobson’s credibiltiy in Chicago media vaporized.
