Former Columbia Prof Sues School

A former professor at Chicago’s Columbia College has filed a lawsuit against the after the school fired her for allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks in a class. Suriya “Sue” Smiley taught part-time at Columbia in the Radio department after spending 14 years as a producer for WLS-AM. Smiley is of Palestinian descent and was alleged to have told a student in her class, “I should have known you were Jewish by the size of your nose.”

Buzz Kilman Guests on WIND-AM

Nearly a year after his gig as Steve Dahl’s sidekick came to an abrupt end when CBS decided to cancel Dahl’s show on JACK-FM, Buzz Kilman is making the rounds on Chicago radio, ostensibly looking for his next gig. Killman popped up on Jake Hartford’s show on WCPT-AM last week, and this morning, he sat in with Big John Howell on WIND-AM 560.

Steele Hired at Fresh-FM

Less than a week after Fresh-FM Bill Gamble ousted morning man Mike LeBaron, he’s welcoming new afternoon jock Roxanne Steele, according to Phil Rosenthal in the Trib.

Listeners will likely remember Steele from her decade at B96, where she worked until CBS chose not to renew her contract in 2008.
