Steele Hired at Fresh-FM

Less than a week after Fresh-FM Bill Gamble ousted morning man Mike LeBaron, he’s welcoming new afternoon jock Roxanne Steele, according to Phil Rosenthal in the Trib.

Listeners will likely remember Steele from her decade at B96, where she worked until CBS chose not to renew her contract in 2008.

Middlebrooks Marks 25 Years

Lewis Lazare profiled Felicia Middlebrooks in the Sun-Times today, as she marks 25 years with WBBM-AM 780. The profile is very generous to Middlebrooks and spends very little time highlighting what may be most infamous moment in her career:

Wolves Score Broadcast TV Outlet

As the puck drops onĀ  a new hockey season, the Chicago Wolves have reached an agreement with WPWR-TV my50 to broadcast 15 games this season. The deal marks the first time since the Wolves have had a broadcast outlet for their games since 1997. The remainder the AHL team’s schedule will air on Comcast SportsNet or its affiliates.

This move, along with the Blackhawks’ deal with WGN-TV, signals a marked change in direction for hockey broadcasting in Chicago. For

Coppock and Tomasulo Face-to-Face on WGN-TV

Longtime Chicago sportscaster Chet Coppock recently released a book entitled, Fat Guys Shouldn’t Be Dancin’ at Halftime: An Irreverent Romp Through Chicago Sports (The Good, the, Bad & the Ugly). In the book, Coppock offers up his opinion on some of the best and the worst sports personalities in Chicago. WGN-TV’s Pat Tomasulo made the #2 slot on the worst list.
